(2021.3.1 Addendum)
Due to the planned termination of the Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) "New Coronavirus Crisis Response Fund", the use of donations will be changed to Médecins Sans Frontières' unrestricted donations from March 1, 2021, and donations will continue.
Now, our lives are being greatly changed by the "new type of coronavirus infection". Life restrictions, financial worries, and the lives of loved ones. Needless to say, it's not just about Japan. Many people around the world are going through the same kind of anxiety and sadness.
Whether it is to overcome such anxiety and grief, there have been a number of events that have added to the anxiety and grief, such as the refusal of medical workers to allow children to attend school, the coronation of the French at the German border, the coronation of Asians, and the leaders of countries that criticize other countries for blaming them.
Under the anxious situation where people are forced to be suspicious and pessimistic, they do not lose sight of the coronavirus, which is the opponent to be fought against, and are struggling with their lives.
Initially, this shop "nomore" was considering making a donation to an organization in Japan. However, as I mentioned at the beginning, the coronavirus is not just a problem in Japan, it is a problem all over the world.
It could be the hometown of a foreigner who lives in Japan and pays taxes, a country with companies that buy Japanese products, a country where people come to Japan for sightseeing and want to come back again someday, a country where people who are fascinated by Cool Japan and love manga live, or a country where people who don't know much about Japan but love sushi live. People living in countries associated with such Japan are suffering. Some of you may have lost family members, and the person who died may have been a lover of Japan.
The current situation, where we have to confine ourselves to the personal sphere to ensure social distance, tends to fall into individualism with eyes downcast. If you open your eyes and look outward, there are so many people suffering in the same way. Most countries have economic and social ties to Japan. I would like to support people living abroad who have nothing to do with me. It is with this in mind that I would like to donate to "MEDECINS SANS FRONTIERES".
The following is an excerpt from our website regarding the activities of MEDECINS SANS FRONTIERES to combat the new type of coronavirus infection.
Starting with an awareness-raising campaign to prevent infection that began in Hong Kong at the end of January this year, the company has responded to the spread of the new coronavirus by providing medical protective equipment to hospitals in Wuhan City, China. Currently, Italy, which has surpassed China in deaths, is helping hospitals in the north, where the epidemic is particularly severe. In addition, France and Belgium cooperate in the inspection and care of particularly vulnerable people, such as the homeless, migrants and minors without guardians. Spain is also working with health authorities to increase the capacity of medical institutions to accept patients. It is also laying out an emergency response to prepare for the spread of infection in the Moria refugee camp on the Greek island of Lesbos, where many refugees live in overcrowded conditions.
Dr. Takashi Kurumiya, President of MSF Japan, said, "As the spread of new coronaviruses around the world increases, many people are at risk for their health. Among them, ensuring the safety of medical personnel has become a top priority for all medical institutions. We must avoid situations where hospitals are forced to shut down due to lack of supply of necessary medical supplies or infection of medical personnel. In addition, the international community must not forget to care for the vulnerable people who are most at risk of infection. I strongly ask for your support so that the world can overcome this critical situation with solidarity.
